What to blog about
When I was told I could blog about anything I got a little overwhelmed. What can I blog about? I could talk about anything in my life, but what do people really want to listen to? I sometimes don't care what people blog about because it doesn't have an impact on my life. They could blog about school or sports or even their job. But none of those subjects have anything to do with me so why should I care about the outcome of a strangers day? I am not good at blogging, nor do I enjoy sitting down writing about my life that other people probably don't care or have that much of an opinion on. At first, I thought blogging was pointless and didn't benefit the writer or even the reader. I have recently changed my mind because one day I want to be a teacher. I want every one of my students to be able to say exactly what he or she wants or needs to get out. Everyone is different and not all students are going to be able to talk out loud to the class or to me. Blogging is a great way to get all of their ideas out. They can feel like they have a voice and an opinion on a certain topic and I hope one day it makes a positive impact on their lives and mine.

I like what you said about blogging being a great way for students to get their ideas out, especially if they don't like talking out loud in class. I think it is a great resource to make sure everyone is heard.
ReplyDeleteAlicia,
ReplyDeleteI want you to know that your thoughts and feelings matter. In a classroom setting kids need to know this. They need to be conifdent when the speak or when they ask a question. I like how you talk about this voice that kids need it is beyond true, they need to have the confidence to speak there mind
I totally know what you mean. There's something about having the freedom to say whatever you want that makes you hesitate for a moment. I am never sure if people will find what I'm saying interesting, but I guess the point of blogging is to vent your ideas and opinions and others who feel the same, or even those who feel like arguing will come read it. You could pretty much talk about anything you want and there will, without a doubt, be people who both agree and disagree with you, but that't the best part. I am definitely going to come back and read more of your posts throughout the semester because I am interested in what you have to say.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the conversation that your blog post created, Alicia! It's true- it can feel weird at first. I used to say the same thing- why do I want to read about a stranger's thoughts? Well, if the thoughts share a topic that I want to explore, such as something in education, then it is relevant. Once we get past the idea that blogging is just a personal journal and more of a way to start a conversation and raise discussion about topics important to our profession lives, we begin to benefit.
