What to blog about
When I was told I could blog about anything I got a little overwhelmed. What can I blog about? I could talk about anything in my life, but what do people really want to listen to? I sometimes don't care what people blog about because it doesn't have an impact on my life. They could blog about school or sports or even their job. But none of those subjects have anything to do with me so why should I care about the outcome of a strangers day? I am not good at blogging, nor do I enjoy sitting down writing about my life that other people probably don't care or have that much of an opinion on. At first, I thought blogging was pointless and didn't benefit the writer or even the reader. I have recently changed my mind because one day I want to be a teacher. I want every one of my students to be able to say exactly what he or she wants or needs to get out. Everyone is different and not all students are going to be able to talk out loud to the class or to me. Blogging is a great way to get all of their ideas out. They can feel like they have a voice and an opinion on a certain topic and I hope one day it makes a positive impact on their lives and mine.

Technology Education Experience
Technology has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was in elementary school there was a computer teacher that would come into our classrooms once a week to show us the basics of the computer. She would show us how to navigate certain tools for educational purposes such as Microsoft or the internet. We had some short experiences with the hands on part of using a computer while in elementary school. When I reached the middle school level, the technology advanced a little more and we were sent to computer classes more often. In these classes we went in depth about how to create power points or use apps such as garage band. The computers were used a lot more during my middle school years because the music and art departments would have us create our work on certain apps specifically made for that subject. When I reached high school most students were very familiar with technology, whether it was their iPhones or laptops. Social media become a huge part of my high school years. Everyone had some sort of social media that spread news at rapid speed. Also many teachers started to come across all the wonderful technology that our school system offered and we would use the computers for many different projects or assignments. I was very lucky to be able to have technology with me every step of the way growing up, but as a future teacher I do not want technology to take over the lives of my students. I want my students to be able to function without technology and realize it is a gift and not their whole lives.
What brought me to SNHU
My name is Alicia Varraso and I am currently a sophomore at Southern New Hampshire University. I play soccer and I'm a history and social studies education major. SNHU was not always on the top of my list of schools to attend. It was always an option in the shadows of my brain but did not become a main focus until late in my senior year of high school. I decided to attend SNHU mainly because of the location. It is only an hour away from home and I like knowing I can go home if I wanted to. Also soccer was a big factor is deciding what college to attend. I really liked the team and coaching staff, and knew I would be challenged here. Knowing that SNHU had a major I was interested in was important to me because a lot of the other colleges and universities I was looking at only had elementary education. I want to be a high school or middle school teacher when I grow up and SNHU has all the necessary resources for me to reach that goal.
